The Samriddha ra Surakshit Samudaya Rukum (3SR) project is carried out in Chaurjahari Municipality of West Rukum District in the Karnali Province.
The three S’s in the name of the project: ‘Samriddha’ ‘Surakshit’ and ‘Samudaya’ are Nepali words that means prosperity, safe and community. The hope and desire of the project is to create a ‘prosperous and safe community’ in Rukum, hence the name Samriddha ra Surakshit Samudaya Rukum (3SR).
The 3SR project is the culmination of the previous Maternal and Child Health Promotion Project and the WASH & Livelihood projects carried out in Chaurjahari Municipality since 2014.
3SR will continue to address the livelihood and maternal and child health issues in the region. The project focuses women’s empowerment through health awareness and education as well as business opportunities and trainings that pursue and encourage female-led farmers in entrepreneurship to improve their overall livelihoods. The project also emphasizes on the importance of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in both schools and community households through awareness raising and education in schools and community groups.
