HDCS’s Disaster Management section is a step beyond providing disaster relief to vulnerable people. Through our Disaster Preparedness and Response projects we hope to build disaster-resilient communities.
Currently HDCS has two major Disaster related projects called the Forecast Based Emergency Response (FOREBER) project and the Namuna Community Preparedness Project (NCPP). The FOREBER project focuses on developing a community led Anticipatory Action to enhance the coping capacity of the vulnerable community before and during the time of disasters. This is carried out in select communities that are vulnerable to disasters like flood, landslide, Glacial Lake Outbursts (GLOFs).
Our Community Preparedness Projects focuses on empowering people in communities, particularly young people to learn about disaster preparedness and response in order to effectively prepare and respond to disasters when it occurs in the hope of creating resilient communities.
